Imogene Dean Adkisson, age 90, of Sherwood passed away December 12, 2016. She was born in Mount Vernon, Arkansas, on January 30, 1926, to Sampson Solomon Dean and Loy Roberts Dean. Imogene was a retired office manager with Arkansas Psychiatric Clinic, a housewife, a mother and a grandmother. Her quiet, calm demeanor, steadfast faith and love of God will always be remembered and admired by those who knew her. She is survived by her son, Richard "Doug" Adkisson, and wife Tami Clipp Adkisson, of Sherwood and their daughter, Hayley Danielle Adkisson, her only beloved and treasured grandchild. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Kim Armstrong of Sherwood, and her sister, Sybil Dean of Jacksonville, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Imogene was preceded in death by her husband, James Elwin "Eddie" Adkisson: one daughter, Carol Dean Armstrong: two brothers: Norvin Dean of Pine Bluff, and Lawrence F. Dean of the Army and home in Jacksonville, and one sister, Kathleen Cole of Cabot. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 14th, from 5-7 p.m. at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home, 7700 Hwy. 107, Sherwood, 501-834-1191, with Graveside service on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Rest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Carol Armstrong Endowment Fund, c/o AR Child, Inc., 5312 West 10th Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72204. All donations are tax deductible, and used to provide books, clothing, or toys to children with special needs.
