JOHN WESLEY JOHNSON, of Little Rock, Ark., Passed away, Dec. 13, 2016 (his birthday). He was born on Dec. 13, 1945 in Garrett Grove, Ark. Lovingly know as J.W by family and friends. He attended Garrett Grove elementary and Carver High Schools, graduating in the mighty class of 1965. After graduation, J.W. enlisted in the United States Army and served a two-year tour of duty in Vietnam. J.W. met and married his loving wife Carthoria Smith–Johnson, In this union they have two two girls. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 46 years: Carthoria Johnson; five daughters: Sonja Johnson; Sunjuan Johnson; Diana Weekly.; Tynnetta Gray.; and Wanda Whitmore (Pastor Stanley); eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his sister, Berve Cotton his beloved mother and father-in-law Charlie and Sallie Smith; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. J.W. was employed by Harvest Foods for 28 years until his retirement in the 1990's. Preceding him in death, his mother, Johnnie Mae Reed Cotton; his father, Roland Johnson; his stepfather, Chester Cotton; three brothers, Edward L. Reed, James Johnson and Ozell Reed; and one sister, Catherine Johnson. Celebration of Life services will include a Family Hour on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 from 6–7:30 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 2501 Main St., Little Rock, followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016. Services by: Willis Funeral Home, McGehee, Ark.
