Mary Ann Switzer

Mary Ann Switzer, nee Leaman, 99, of Swansea, formerly of Belleville, born Sept. 25, 1917 in Saginaw, Mich., passed away on Dec. 23, 2016 in Swansea. Mrs. Switzer worked for 25 years as a bookkeeper for Sears-Roebuck Co. in Pontiac, Mich. After retirement she gave freely of her time. From 1994 to 2001 she was a volunteer bookkeeper for St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Ark. Upon her return to the Belleville area in 2001 she continued her volunteering, this time at Memorial Hospital till 2013. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran church. Mary Ann loved to crochet, work Search & Find books, and always enjoyed reading the National Enquirer and People Magazine. One of her greatest joys was camping. She and Ken belonged to the National Campers and Hikers Association. During their travels, it was Mary Ann who would drive their motor home, taking it all over the country and even into Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Switzer; her parents, Arthur and Augusta, nee Kientize, Leaman; two sons, Robert E. Lockwood and Ronald Switzer; a daughter Jackie Mason; and a brother, Gordon Leaman. Surviving Mrs. Switzer is a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Switzer; six grandchildren, Kevin Mason, Debra Mason, Mark Mason, Scott (Kim Hendricks) Switzer, Steve (Trish) Switzer, Shelley (John Igel) Crotty; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; two nephews, Gordon (Kathy) Leaman and Steve (Norma) Leaman; as well as great-nephews and great-nieces.
