Beatrice Latham Edwards, 98, of North Little Rock was born August 16, 1917 in Chinquapin, Arkansas, near Batesville, and passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 in North Little Rock. She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Tom A. Edwards, a son, Thomas Latham Edwards, and three sisters. She had been a resident at Fox Ridge Assisted Living in North Little Rock since January 2010. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Somers Avenue Church of Christ and a former member of Sylvan Hills Church of Christ. Bea, as everyone called her, suffered a playground injury as a child that left her with a damaged hip. She was later the recipient of the first complete hip replacement in the state of Arkansas. Although this made it necessary for her to walk with a cane all her life, she was a vibrant and energetic person with a winning smile and bright blue eyes. She is survived by a son, David Edwards and his wife, Carolyn of Aurora, Colorado, as well as grandchildren, Jeremy Edwards, currently serving in the U.S. Foreign Service in Japan, Dylan Edwards of Aurora, Colorado, and Leslie Edwards Fisher of Breckenridge, Colorado, and her five great-grandchildren, Jasper, Sam, and Imogen Edwards, and Sage Thomas, and Haylen Fischer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6 at 10 a.m. at the Somers Avenue Church of Christ in North Little Rock. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road in North Little Rock. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Somers Avenue Church of Christ. Please leave the family your condolences at Bea's online guestbook at www.griffinleggettresthills.com.
