Max Allan Calhoun, age 77 of Benton, passed from this life on February 21, 2016. Mr. Calhoun was born on August 12, 1938 in Laneburg, Arkansas to his parents, J.T. and Lucy Calhoun. He was an avid Arkansas outdoorsman and enjoyed the bounties of this state in regards to hunting and especially fishing. He attended Texarkana Junior College on a basketball scholarship and retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1995. Max was a devoted and wonderful husband, father and friend and loved attending the many sporting events for his grandchildren. Max is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Rita along with his son, Brian Calhoun and wife, Laura of Bryant and three daughters; Sherri Tatum and her husband, Monte of Benton, Lisa Cotton and her husband, Richard of Little Rock and Kim Blakley and her husband, Pat of Benton. He is also survived by two brothers, Don and Nick Calhoun, both of Bryant, along with 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives that will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant, with Bro. Cody Calhoun officiating.
