James Leland Terhune, age 67, of West Fork, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 in West Fork. He was born April 9, 1948 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the son of Leland Swagerty and Alma Mae White Terhune. He was preceded in death by his parents and four infant brothers. He was an employee of the City of West Fork. James was extremely proud to be a Marine. At the time of his discharge his rank was E5 Sergeant. His proudest achievements in his life were while he served his country. He had great memories from this time as well as difficult ones that he struggled with. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with the Combat "V" (V stands for Valor). He was also a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, RVN Cross of Gallantry, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart Medal (3) and Rifle Marksman. He was a member of the Purple Heart Association, life member of the First Marine Division Association, Paralyzed Veterans of America and a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Cleta Ann Mullin Terhune; his children, Tracy Lea, Amy Leigh, Joshua Leland and Jamie Lee and seven grandchildren, Jalen Tyler, Nicholas Allen, Alexander Monroe, Layla Avery, Lance Edward Leland, Linus Ashton Lee and Julianna Emily Grace. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday February 25, 2016 at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday at Moore's Chapel followed by burial at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
