Roger William Long, 75, of Rogers passed away February 20, 2016 in his home. He was born November 18, 1940 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Willie T. and Margaret Ratherman Long. Roger was a process engineer for AT&T, History and English Teacher; a College Professor, Builder and a Horticulturist. He was raised in the Catholic faith, but within the most recent years attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was active in the food pantry program. He is preceded in death by his wife Judith Long. Roger had many hobbies. He was a writer and a poet. He had a profound love of music. He was the drummer and lead singer in a small band in his youth, but later found an even greater joy in the gathering of his wife and children around the piano she played and singing church hymns together. He loved doing photography….especially taking pictures of his family. He was a devoted father who put the effort into creating "quality" time with his children whether it was to work on an old car…coaching on his kids teams...or watch a movie. He simple enjoyed being together. Anyone who knew Roger would say he was a giving man with a great sense of humor. He liked making people laugh. Dad, we will miss you incredibly. Thank you for all the blessings you and mom created in our lives. Although our hearts are so heavy with grief, we are grateful that you left this world peacefully to join our Heavenly Father above and be reunited with Mom eternally. With Love Forever- He is survived by his children Paul, Lisa, Lauri and David; his half sister Darlene; seven grandchildren and soon arrival of one more; and two great-grandchildren.
