Rogers: Thomas William "Tom" Mardis, 82, of Rogers, died Feb. 27, 2016 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born on March 21, 1933 in Harrisburg to the late Clay and Effie Mardis. Tom was married to Betty June Evans for 62 wonderful years. Tom graduated in 1954 from Arkansas State University where he was a United States Army Commissioned Officer in ROTC from 1954-1957. He worked at FMC in Jonesboro as personal manager. Tom also worked at Light Adjustment Company in Little Rock. He served on the bank board at Nettleton Bank of Jonesboro as well as Nettleton School Board. In 1988, Tom and Betty moved to Rogers and opened several convenient stores and insurance agencies. Tom retired in 2008 due to health reasons. Tom is survived by his wife, Betty June Mardis of Rogers; a daughter, Lisa Renee Mardis of Jonesboro; a son, Tommy Clay Mardis and wife, Tammi of Rogers; three grandchildren: Stacy Tidwell and husband, Drew of Rogers, Kayce Mardis of Fayetteville, and Trey Mardis of Conway; two great-grandchildren, Avery Grace and Owen Thomas Tidwell of Rogers; a sister, Jimmie Sue Pipkin of Harrisburg and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery officiated by Rev. Jamie Alexander of Rogers under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Honorary pallbearers include Lafarrel Wess, Clyde Ford, Mrs. Jimmy Bruckner, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Brand, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Parks, Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Barnett, and the remaining class of 1950 of Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg.
