Ruby Frances Mitchell

Ruby Frances Mitchell, 89, of McArthur, Ark., passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 in Monticello, Ark. She was born in Paris, Texas on Aug. 30, 1926 to the late Emmett and Edna Posey Johnson. Ruby loved to quilt and sew as long as she was able. She also loved to read. Her husband, James and her children were her world. Ruby was a charter member of McArthur Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Mitchell, Sr. and her son, Kenneth Ray Mitchell. Survivors include her son, James M. Mitchell, Jr. and his wife, Shirley of McArthur, Ark.; daughters, Patricia Mitchell Cobb of Ocala, Fla. and Donna Mitchell Frizzell and her husband, Steve of Star City, Ark.; grandchildren: Meredith Gwen Mitchell Shirey and her husband, Michael, Katherine Lynn Frizzell, and Joanna Kendall Frizzell; great-granddaughter, Rachel McKenzie Shirey; brother, Emmett "Johnny" Johnson of McArthur, Ark.; sister, Margaret Cole of Springdale, Ark. In addition, she is survived by five nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held at 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee, Ark. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service Chapel in McGehee, Ark. with Bro. B.J. Duvall officiating.
