Robert Samuel Spencer, Sr. died peacefully on January 9, 2016 in Bentonville, Arkansas at the age of 90. Bob was born on November 14, 1925 in Clarksville, Arkansas. He attended Bentonville High School where he played quarter back on the football team. A veteran of World War II, he was drafted into the United States Navy in 1943, and served in the South Pacific. He married Eleanor Ruth Polson on June 7, 1946. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1991, was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville and was a Past Master of Bentonville Masonic Lodge No. 56. Bob was also active in various veterans groups, an avid fan of University of Arkansas sports and Saint Louis Cardinals baseball. He is preceded in death by his parents, Buell Brown & Vivian Spencer; brothers, Buell Brown, Jr. and Thomas; sisters, Betty Ann Krause, Peggy Looney, and Dorothy Spencer; and daughter, Victoria Spencer. Bob is survived by his wife, Eleanor; brother, William Spencer (Susan) of Richmond, Va.; son, Robert Jr. (Shirley) of Springdale, Ark.; daughter, JoAnn Spencer (Ernest Campbell) of Atascocita, Texas; son, Christopher (Dianne) of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services, 2898 W. Walnut Rogers, Ark. 72756. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Bentonville with the Rev. Dr. Kurt Boggan officiating. Burial will be at Bentonville Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers.
