Jean Linder Hoffman

Jean Linder Hoffman, widow of Arkansas Hall of Fame member, John W. Hoffman, Sr. ("Big John"), passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2016. Jean was born July 29, 1926 to E.W. and Carmen Lawrence Linder in Port Arthur, Texas. Her profession of faith in Christ Jesus at a young age bore witness throughout her life. The family moved to Little Rock, Ark., where Jean attended Little Rock High School (now Little Rock Central High School), where she met her future husband. After marriage, Jean followed her husband to U of A in Fayetteville and later to Chicago, Ill., where John played football with the Bears from 1949–1956. The family returned to Little Rock where they made their home among family and many life-long friends. Jean was predeceased by her parents; her husband; one son, John W. Hoffman, Jr.; a sister, Jane Nichols; and one great-grandchild, Kristen. She is survived by son, Tobey Hoffman (Becky); son, Tom Hoffman (Vicki); daughter-in-law, Peggy Hoffman; granddaughters: Melissa Lynn, Johnna Kay, and Cheryl; grandsons: Jason, Scott and Nick; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mom, Grammie–we all miss you and look forward to seeing you again. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock. Graveside service will be Thursday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital.
