Maxie Brooks

Maxie Brooks, age 80, of Shreveport, formerly of Benton died July 1, 2016. He was born Oct. 2, 1935 in Benton, Ark. Maxie was retired from GM, a US Army Veteran and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Glennie Brooks; son, Danny Lee Brooks; two brothers, Hubert K. Brooks and Charles E. Brooks. Survivors: wife, Ike Earlene Freeman Brooks, Shreveport; daughter, Toni Phillips, Shreveport; sisters, Elizabeth Moore, California, Susie Brooks Rozell, Texas; two grandchildren, Morgan Taylor Phillips and McKinzie Jean Phillips both of Shreveport. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ashby's. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Lee Cemetery in Benton.
