A. D. Witherington, 94, of Hamburg, died July 6, 2016. Mr. Witherington was a native of Hampton, Arkansas and a resident of Hamburg for the past 56 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation Paper Mill for over 37 years. He was an active member of the Southside Baptist Church, a member of the Submarine Veterans of America and he was an avid square dancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie & Maude Porter Witherington; four brothers, John Hays, Clyde L. and Ralph Witherington and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Steena Warner Witherington of Hamburg; three sons, Phillip Witherington and wife, Maha, of Bryant, Arkansas, Warner Witherington of Lake Charles, Louisiana and David Witherington of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Kanzy, David, Sherwet and Joseph and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services are 10 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016, in the Egypt Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Pennington and Rev. Frederick Etheridge officiating. Memorials may be made to the Egypt Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. John Lang, 272 Ashley Road 454, Hamburg, Ark. 71646. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
