Marjorie Halbert Dalrymple Rabideau, 84, was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, July 11, 2016. Marjorie was born February 9, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of William Hibbard Halbert and Ora Lottie Day Halbert. Marjorie grew up in Little Rock attending the Little Rock public schools and graduating in 1949 from Little Rock High School. Marjorie graduated from University of Arkansas at Little Rock while raising four children and commuting from Pine Bluff. Marjorie worked as a librarian in the Pine Bluff and Watson Chapel school districts until she married Ervin Rabideau and moved to Michigan in 1972. While in Michigan, Marjorie taught history in the Adult Education Program in Detroit. After retiring, she and her husband Erv enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes making life long friends in every port. Retirement also afforded them time to visit family in Tennessee and Arkansas. Marjorie served her Lord in South Side Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and led Girls Auxiliary through WMU before moving to Michigan. Upon the death of her husband, Erv, she returned to Pine Bluff joining First Baptist Church Pine Bluff. She continued serving through the WMU missions program including the Baptist Student Union programs at UAPB and SEARK. Marjorie also volunteered in the church library, on the history committee and by teaching the Hannah Sunday School class. Additionally, Marjorie served her community through various organizations including her favorite, the Jefferson County Historical Museum. Marjorie is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, John Dalrymple, second husband, Ervin Rabideau and grandson, Jordan Dalrymple. Survivors include her four children, Steve Dalrymple (Allison) of White Hall, Susan Dalrymple Cunningham (George) of Franklin, Tennessee, Reverend Scott Dalrymple (Denice) of Bevier, Missouri, and Sara Dalrymple of White Hall; two brothers, Bill Halbert, Jr. (Barbara) of Nashville, Tennessee and John Halbert (Margie) of Brentwood, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Alex Dalrymple of Nashville, Tennessee, Reverend Obadiah Dalrymple (Danielle) of Calvert City, Kentucky, Kelley Cunningham Bivens (Byron) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Captain Clark Dalrymple (Kelly) of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was blessed with five beautiful great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church Pine Bluff led by Reverend Kenneth Thornton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the endowment fund of First Baptist Church, 6501 S. Hazel Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603 and/or the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home, 10 Remington, Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204.
