Amy Marcella Cox, 56, of Sherwood, passed away on July 19th of complications following a massive stroke. Amy was a beloved wife & mother who dedicated herself to serving others through her career in EMS. As was her nature, even in death she gave of herself by donating to the Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Association. Amy's career began in Camden at AR Fire Academy where she was involved in firefighting and EMS; and her career continued throughout the state. After completing her EMT & Paramedic certifications, Amy served and taught classes in many communities across Arkansas for nearly 25 years. She was a knowledgeable and passionate medic and an exceptional instructor of more than 1000 students. She set the bar high for those following in her footsteps. Amy was a member of First Assembly in Star City and radiated God's love. She was always a warm smile, gentle hug, and encouraging word to those around her. She will be sorely missed by those who had the privilege to know and love her. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Gerald Cox; sons, Joseph Alexander Dorris, and Michael Chase Cox (Lauren); granddaughter, Blair Cox; brothers, Art Cain (Anise) and , John Cain (Ruth). She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Edward Dorris, her parents and two sisters Leona and Ruth Virginia. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, 320 Executive Court, Ste. 104, Little Rock, Ark. 72205. A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, July 21st at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, July 22nd followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church.
