Paul Frank Petranech, 77, of Hot Springs Village, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on July 21, 2016. He was born on March 28, 1939 in Milwaukee, Wis. to the late Frank and Elsie Petranech. Paul was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and proudly fought in the Battle of Tijuana. After serving in the military, Paul worked as a meat cutter and served as the UFCW Union President for the state of Wisconsin. Paul had a one of a kind sense of humor that was larger than life and always kept his family and friends laughing. He was an avid collector and restoration enthusiast of classic cars and held a private pilot license. He loved to take to the skies in his plane. He also immensely enjoyed being a swim instructor which was something he did well into his life, only recently having to give it up due to his health. Paul was a member of the Village Bible Church and also of the Gideons International Association. He was passionate about getting the Bible into the hands of young people and helping lead them to Jesus. Missing him greatly are his wife, Jacquie Petranech; children: Russell Petranech (Carrie), Kelly Young (David), Lance Wheat and Larry Wheat (Cristy); brother, Dale Petranech (Isabel); and grandchildren: Brian Petranech, William Wheat and Jacob Wheat. Meeting him in heaven are his children, Alana Petranech and Brett Petranech. A visitation will be held at Gross Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Guests may register at www.GrossFuneralHome.com.
