Martha Parker Payne

Martha Parker Payne, 88, of Maumelle, passed away on June 1, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on December 31, 1927 in Gary, Indiana to Harl H. Parker and Luniel Lowe Parker. Martha grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where she graduated from Pine Bluff High in 1945. After high school, she began working for companies such as Ben Pearson Archery, The Pine Bluff Arsenal and Georgia Pacific, where she held the position Head of Human Resources. Martha married Louis H. Payne in 1946 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. They were happily married for almost 26 years. Martha was a member of First Baptist Church in Little Rock. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, and painting. Her favorite travel destinations included the Holy Land, Europe and Branson, Missosuri! Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Louis. Martha is survived by her sister, Dr. Lois Parker of Reno, Nevada; her son, Dr H. Lou Payne (Bennie Sue) of Maumelle, Arkansas and her daughter, Pat Vance (Jerry) of Austin, Arkansas; her granddaughters, Lindsey Hart (Rusty), Holly Lenderman (Roger), and Hannah Goodrum (Sam). Martha is also survived by her two precious great-granddaughters Bella and Mila. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas (501-224-8300) on June 4, 2016 at 1 p.m. Visitation will precede the service at noon.
