Geraldine Ellis "Nanny" Smith

Geraldine Ellis "Nanny" Smith, age 92, of Little Rock, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at her home. She was born May 24, 1924, in Humnoke, to Albert and Stella Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth Smith, and by five siblings. Nanny was a Pre-Kindergarten teacher for 17 years and was a member of New Haven Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by son, Leon (Grace) Smith; daughter, Rose McKay; four grandchildren, Debra Barth, Brian McKay, Chris Smith, all of Little Rock and Amanda Simmons of Bauxite; six great-grandchildren, Britteny Russell, Jessica VanHoose, Karen Eleaise Stewart, David Barth, P.J. Simmons, and John Simmons; four great great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Arthur L. Ellis of Detroit, Michigan and Daniel Ellis of Houston, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, June 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 11, at 1:30 p.m. at New Haven Missionary Baptist Church, 19824 Lawson Road, Little Rock; with Rev. Dennis Mitchell officiating and Rev.
