Mary Ellen Clark, 84, of Cabot, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 23, 2016. She was born on Sept. 10, 1931 in Centreville, Ala., to the late James Clofus and Ola Mae (Snipes) Maxwell. She has gone to be reunited with her husband, R.V. Clark; daughter, Cheryl Thornton; grandchildren, Jason and Jillian Clark; her parents, James and Ola Maxwell and sister, Helen DeRamus of Bessemer, Ala. Mary was a homemaker and loved cooking for her family. She was a Baptist and loved reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. She was well known for telling it like it was. Those left to celebrate her life are her sons, Roy (Joyce) Clark of Sherwood, Jay (Brenda) Clark and Mike (Arlene) Clark of Austin and son-in-law, Bill Thornton of Cabot; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister-in-law, Francis Martin of Alabama and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all. A special thanks to Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation of Cabot, where she spent the last two years of her life. Mom was happy there and she was treated with love, respect and dignity by the nurses and staff. She loved them and they loved her. Thank you. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016 in Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
