DOROTHY MARIE MORTON passed away in Little Rock, Ark. on March 19, 2016. She resided at Parkway Village and Fox Ridge Chenal in Little Rock since 2001, when she moved from Quincy, Ill. to be closer to family. She was born May 3, 1920 in Quincy, a daughter of Elmer and Edith Mohrman. She married Silas Morton on May 17, 1942 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1997. Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Quincy High School. She attended Western Illinois Teachers' College. Dorothy worked as a teacher in Golden, Ill. and St. Louis, Mo. and in Quincy as home service rep for CIPS and then cafeteria manager for Moorman Manufacturing until her retirement in 1975. Dorothy was a member of Luther Memorial Church, Elks Lodge, Spring Lake Country Club, Women's City Club, and Blessing Hospital Tea Room Volunteers in Quincy. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and their Agape Sunday School Class in Little Rock. Dorothy is survived by a son, Jim Morton and wife, Donna of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a daughter, Barbara Cherry and husband, Jack of Little Rock; four grandchildren: Derek Dean and wife, Dr. Blair of Jonesboro, Ark.; Jeff Morton and wife, Shannan of Chesterfield, Mo.; Nathan Morton and wife, Natacha of Edwardsville, Ill.; and Jane Cherry of Dallas, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren: Derek Crockett Dean Jr. and River Dean of Jonesboro; Nicholas, Ryan, Eric, and Sara Morton of Chesterfield; and Adriana and Eli Morton of Edwardsville ; and a sister, Marjorie Kuhn of Gilbert, Ariz. Service arrangements are being handled by Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock. The family requests in lieu of flowers that Memorials be given to St. James United Methodist Church in Little Rock or Baptist Health Hospice in Little Rock.
