Sara Word Smith

Sara Word Smith, 84, of Searcy, passed away on March 23, 2016. She was born on Feb. 21, 1932 in Jonesboro, to Richard and Eva (Floyd) Word. Sara was married to Jeff O. Smith for 52 years. Sara enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy was her family. Sara was preceded in death by her husband; and her siblings, Richard C. Word Jr., Nancy M. Davis and Samuel F. Word. Sara's legacy includes her children, Dan (Diane) and Ziba (David); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and special nephews, John and Jim (Teresa) Edens. Visitation will be held at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy at 12:30 p.m. on March 28, 2016. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Gum Springs Cemetery in Searcy.
