CHESTER RAY GOODWIN, 95, went to be with the Lord, March 25, 2016. Chester was born in Little Rock, Ark. on NoV. 12, 1920 to Ernest and Ella Goodwin. Chester was a faithful member of the Lord's Church and worshipped with the saints that meet at the Church of Christ in Mabelvale, Ark. He made friends all over the United States, through his work with Fluor-Daniel Construction as an accountant. Chester and Jean also developed lasting relationships with many from the various churches they attended and loved keeping in touch with everyone. Chester was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 66 years, Imogene "Jean" Burns Goodwin; five siblings: Winard Goodwin, Lester Goodwin, Harvey Goodwin, Elizabeth Sherlin and Christine Smith. He is survived by one daughter, Lisa Shoptaw and Robert of Little Rock, Ark.; two sons, Dr. Stephen Goodwin (Sandra) of Jackson, Tenn., David Goodwin of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, David Shoptaw of Little Rock, Ark. and Carol Anne Braswell (Matthew) of Lowell, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Braswell. Chester also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like express a thank you to Dr. Scott Rypkema for the special care given to our Dad. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills, 10200 Hwy 5 N., Alexander, Ark. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Minister Dennis Gulledge will officiate. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
