Joseph "Alan" Hick, Higgie, Higginbotham, 67 of Mayflower, Arkansas, passed away March 25, 2016 at the John L. McClellan VA Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas, after battling cancer for two years. Mr. Higginbotham was born December 8, 1948 in Marvell, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice Bonner Williford. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Reta Lott Higginbotham, two sisters: Mary Jon (Frank) Baker; Kay (Don) McGee both of Lakeland, Florida, three sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law, an abundance of nephews and nieces with a host of cousins, and friends. Mr. Higginbotham is an alumnus of Marvell High and a graduate of Leesburg Community College. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He eventually retired from the Cable TV Industry, which took him and Reta on a perpetual vacation all over the United States. He loved taking his nephews and friends fishing and hunting then entertaining them with his exploits. He was a gifted poet and writer, who also collected banks. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marvell, Arkansas. Services will be held at the Huson Funeral Home Chapel with the viewing from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 31, 2016 as well as the funeral service being held at the funeral home at 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2016. Burial will take place at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to: Berean Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas or to the First Baptist Church of Marvell, Arkansas.
