Charlsie Prestridge Hayes, 82, of Monticello went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday May 1, 2016 at Hospice Home Care, in Little Rock after a brief illness, with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Herbert and Margaret Prestridge. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Carpenter. Charlsie lived in the Enon Community and attended Enon School through the 6th grade. She was crowned the first Miss Drew County in 1950. She graduated from Drew Central High School in 1951. Charlsie attended Arkansas A&M College in Monticello. She relocated to Dyersburg, Tennessee and worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company for 20 years. She returned to Monticello in 1972 and worked as a bank teller for Commercial Bank for 21 years, until her retirement. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was 16 years of age. Charlsie was a faithful member of Enon Baptist Church. She was also a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and served as Church Treasurer for many years. She loved Arkansas Razorback football and basketball. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Billy Gene Hayes (married June 21, 1975). She is survived by one brother, Robert Prestridge (Judi) of Hot Springs Village, three daughters, Billie Anne McMahon (George) of Tetonia, Idaho, Donna Hicks (Jim) of Lake Village and Katie West (Everette) of Monticello, eight grandchildren, Anne Reaves (Chris), Kelly Derryberry (Stormy), Amber Plunkett (Andy) Kerry Hartness (Melissa), Will McMahon (Jackie), Jerry West (Kim) and Wayne West (Susan), Damian Hicks, 19 great-grandchildren, (Hayden, Will Ashton, Anson, Jarrett, Megan, Makenzie, Lauren, Annistyn, Lindsey, Hunter, Lane, Hunter, Dustin, Emily, Sam, and Madi Claire, Aaron, Ben, Caden) and two great-great-grandchildren (Elliott and Jude), one niece, Lori Swim and nephew, Eric Hollar and cousins, Dalpha Lloyd of Hurst, Texas and Faye Fleming Beard of Monticello. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Enon Baptist Church at 10 a.m. by Rev. Kenny Worbington and Rev. David Jacks with burial to follow in Enon Cemetery.
