Carol Culpepper Hastings

Carol Culpepper Hastings, 53, of Jefferson, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at home. She was born September 13, 1962 in Pine Bluff, daughter of John Wesley "Jack" Culpepper, Jr. and Janie Tugwell Culpepper of Pine Bluff. Carol was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff and Little Rock, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. She earned her nursing degree from the JRMC School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Jefferson Regional Medical Center for many years before working at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. Carol retired from Baptist a few years ago. Carol was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her favorite hobbies included spending time with her grandson, Mason Andrew Johnson, traveling and playing card games. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark "Buddy" Hastings; brother, Michael Culpepper; and two step-sons, Clark Hastings, III and Matthew Hastings. Survivors include her son, Matthew D. Johnson and his wife, Jill, of Benton; grandson, Mason Andrew Johnson; her parents, Jack and Janie Culpepper; sister, Brenda Harper of Little Rock; and two brothers, Tom Culpepper of Memphis, Tennessee and Paul Culpepper of Johnson City, Tennessee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Frank DuPreez officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. A Vigil service will be 6 p.m., Thursday at Robinson's with Deacon Noel F. "Bud" Bryant officiating.
