James E. (Jim) Logan

James E. (Jim) Logan was born January 6, 1928 in Sheridan, Arkansas to J.W. and Jewel Logan. He died at his home in Mt. Ida, Arkansas on April 29, 2016. Jim was a child of the Great Depression and one of the last members of the Greatest Generation. He served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later in the Army as 2nd Lt. in the Korean War. Thanks to the G.I. bill, he was able to attend and graduate college, Henderson University with a major in History. It was at college he met his future wife, Sarah Scott. They were married February 29, 1956 and celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on February 29 this year. Jim's great loves were his wife, Sarah, his 6 beautiful German Shepherds and his cabin in the Ouachita Mountains on Lake Ouachita. He faithfully attended Joplin United Methodist Church for many years. He was employed by ExxonMobil before retirement. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Don Logan. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; brother, Bob Logan; nephews, Donnie Logan, Mike Logan, Buster Logan and John Brooks; nieces, Sarah Brooks Walker, Tina Logan, Kathy Gornatti and Amy Elizabeth Shuhan; as well as many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Memorials may be made to Warm Hearts Humane Society, P.O. Box 535, Mount Ida, Ark. 71957. Family graveside burial held at Lost Creek Cemetery, Sheridan, Ark. Pallbearers are Mike Logan, Donnie Logan, Buster Logan, John Brooks Christopher Brooks, and Joe Scott. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall at Joplin United Methodist Church, one block off Highway 270 on Mt. Harbor Rd.
