Joseph Pinkney Davidson, III

Joseph Pinkney Davidson, III, of Batesville, Ark. Joseph Pinkney Davidson, III, son of the late Joseph Pinkey Davidson, II and Lois Howard Davidson, was born Jan. 20, 1945 in Albuquerque, N.M. He departed this life May 6, 2016 at his home in Batesville, Ark. at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 16 days. He was united in marriage to Diane Tomlinson, Aug. 10, 1962 in Sage, Ark. and to his union two children were born. Pinkey spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, provider, and friend. He earned a BSE in Agriculture from Arkansas State University and taught school at Evening Shade and Salem. He was a businessman who owned and operated several businesses. He was a horseman and cowboy. He loved working and showing horses. Above all else, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his wife and kids. He served Sage Baptist Church a Deacon for many years. After moving to Batesville, he became a member of West Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 53 years, Diane Davidson of Batesville; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cindy Davidson of Batesville; one daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Paul Blackburn of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one brother, Pat Davidson and wife, Suellen of Melbourne; two sisters, Paula Cone and husband, Tom of Melbourne and Janet Teague and husband, John of Melbourne; three grandchildren: John Wiggins of Hendersonville, Tenn., Lindsey Burgess and husband, Johnathon of Batesville, and Alex Vericker and husband, Ryan of Judsonia; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Scott Burgess and Price Daniel Burgess; two brothers-in-law, Max Tomlinson of Salem and Hays Tomlinson and wife, Gail of Judsonia; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Frances Davidson; his father and mother-in-law, John and Maude Tomilinson. Funeral service will be Monday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at West Baptist Church in Batesville with Keith Tomlinson and Cory Majors officiating. Burial will be at Zion Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be Sunday, May 8 from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers: John Wiggins, Johnathon Burgess, Ryan Vericker, Kenny Willis, Chris Gillihan, Greg Flood, L.D. Moser, and Gray Dellinger. Honorary Pallbearers: Jerry Wells, Jon Barry, Brian Edwards and Larry Cain.
