James Garfield Smith Jr.

James Garfield Smith Jr., age 84, of Jacksonville went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 6, 2016. He was born June 30, 1931 in Woodson, Arkansas to the late James G. Smith, Sr. and Essie Mae Smith. Mr. Smith was a faithful member of First Pentecostal Church of North Little Rock, he loved his pastor and church family. He was a lifelong designer in upholstery; and avid gardener; loved his children and family; and was known for his special jokes and sense of humor. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Voida E. Smith and four brother and one sister. He is survived by his sons, Ronnie (Betsy) Smith, John Mark (Laura) Smith, Douglas (Rachel) Smith, one daughter, Carla (Alvin) McMahon, brothers Harold (Martha) Smith, Morris (Charlotte) Smith, Preston (Margaret) Smith, and one sister Linda (Buddy) Woods, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
