Ronald Autis Scott

The conclusion of 74 years well-lived came to Ronald Autis Scott, of Heber Springs, on May 8, 2016. Born in Melbourne, Arkansas, on September 29, 1941, he was the son of the late Norman Autis Scott and the late Ann Stiles Scott. Ron was a loving and devoted husband, caring father and loyal friend. A graduate of the University of Arkansas in 1963, Ron made his career in the insurance industry. He worked for Aetna Life & Casualty for 15 years before returning to his home state to work for Rebsamen Insurance until his retirement to Heber Springs in 2008. He shared his passion for fishing and love of reading with all who knew him. Ron was a member of the Serra Club of Greater Little Rock. While attending St. Albert Catholic Church in Heber Springs, he served as a lector and was a member of the men's choir. Ron belonged to the Wednesday morning men's prayer group and served as president of the parish council. He also served on the board of Cleburne County Cares. Ron was preceded in death by his brother, William Dodson Scott. He is survived by his wife of 52 glorious years, Mary Sue Scott; his son, Ronald A. Scott, Jr. (Kim) of Denver, CO; his daughter, Susan Scott-Chambers (Darrell) of Heber Springs; his sister, Nancy Wirt of Conway, and 11 nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at St. Albert Catholic Church in Heber Springs on Thursday, May 12 at 10 a.m. Burial will be afterward at the St. Albert Columbarium. Ron, a lifelong dog lover, requested that memorials be made to the Heber Springs Humane Society, 49 Shelter Lane, Heber Springs, Arkansas, 72543.
