Eleanor Louise Simpson, 95, of Rogers passed away May 10 in Fayetteville. She was born Jan. 1, 1921 in Neodesha, Kan. to the late Jack and Buenta Mae (Wilkinson) Starrett. After graduating high school she attended Baker University in Wichita, Kan., graduating with a degree in business. Following her graduation, Eleanor was employed at the Boeing Military Aircraft factory in Wichita during the last years of World War II. There, she witnessed the initial production rollout of the Boeing B-29 strategic bomber. Eleanor married Lt. Harold Glenn Simpson and traveled the country and the world with him during his 20 year military career. Later in life, she entered federal service with the US Geological Survey, rising to the position of Administrative Assistant before retiring with her husband to Rogers. She was preceded by Harold in 1996. Survivors include her son, Keith Starrett Simpson (Kathleen); her granddaughter, Kelli Michelle Christensen (Craig) and her great-grandchildren, Gunnar Arnold Snyder, Duncan Keith Snyder and Jackson Starrett Lape. Eleanor requested a private burial and funeral. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness.
