Clifford Revere Carruthers, 59, of Humble, Texas fought a brave battle against lung cancer at Kingwood Medical Hospital and went courageously into the good night surrounded by his wife and daughters on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Cliff was born in Massillon, Ohio to John Roy Carruthers and Martha Jane Carruthers. He was the youngest of four. During early childhood, the family established residence in Little Rock, Ark. Growing up, he loved football, running and caring for animals. Even as a child, he was outgoing and loved being with his family and friends. He had a warm heart and showed kindness and compassion to everyone he met. Cliff was a graduate of University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a B.S. in English. During these years, he found a love for reading and writing, which he continued daily throughout his life. Later in life, he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and watching football. Despite not having a team in the game (Oilers, Texans, or Razorbacks), he always rooted for the underdog. He enjoyed frequently watching his favorite movies. He loved laughing at his own jokes and sharing them with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. His family meant the world to him. He was extremely proud of his wife Deborah Carruthers and his two daughters, Leandra Carruthers (Jose Martinez) and Kelly Royce (Tobias Royce). He was preceded in death by his father, John Roy Carruthers. He is survived by his mother, Martha Jane Carruthers; two brothers, David Carruthers (Tricia Carruthers) and John Carruthers (Eduardo Delgado); and sister, Karen Roberts (Kenny Roberts). He is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Vada Fuller and survived by his father-in-law, Robert Fuller and two brothers-in-law, Dan Fuller (Carol Fuller) and Gary Fuller (Peggy Fuller). Cliff was a unique and caring man. Remember Cliff by doing an unexpected, unsolicited act of kindness, or honor him by giving up smoking and/or donating to the American Cancer Society. A visitation was held at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood Texas on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. for family and friends to visit, share, and celebrate the wonderful man that he was.
