Irene C. Young

IRENE C. YOUNG, 95, of Little Rock, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, of complications with Alzheimer's disease. She was born June 16, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas, daughter of Arabella and John Carns. She married Joseph J. Young of San Antonio in 1944, deceased on Feb. 20, 1995. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, enjoyed playing bridge, mah jong, and reading a good mystery. As a military wife and mother she traveled in Europe and the US and retired in Little Rock in 1970 with her husband after 30 years of service in the Air Force. Even through her time with Alzheimer's she remained a sweet and loving mother. Survivors include her son, Roger, and his wife Diane; granddaughter Jessica; great-grandchild, Jax, from Waterloo, Iowa, and her daughter, Linda Young of Little Rock. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Carns of San Antonio. Services will be private at Calvary Cemetery on Tuesday.
