John Thomas Williams

John Thomas "J.T." Williams Jr., 96, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born Dec. 6, 1919 in Imboden to the late John Thomas Williams Sr. and Martha Taylor Williams. J. T. grew up in Walnut Ridge and graduated from Walnut Ridge High School. He was a pilot in the United States Naval Air Force and served as a cadet flight instructor during World War II. He was a forty-five year employee, who also served as manager of Federal Compress Company plants in Walnut Ridge, Pine Bluff, and Fresno, Calif., before retiring. His lifetime passion was golf. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Marie Tedrick and Thelma Moseley. J. T. was survived by his wife of 68 yrs., Mabel Sloan Williams; his children, John Williams III of Walnut Ridge, Bill Williams (Dee Ann) of Edmond, Okla., Anne Edwards (Jerry) of Paragould and Alan Williams of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Elizabeth McCaslin, Lauren McCaslin, Clay Williams, Claire Williams and Caleb Williams; two great-grandchildren, Madison and William McCaslin. Visitation will be from 10 a.m., Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Dr. Stacy Smith officiating. A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge. Arrangements were entrusted to Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
