Jimmy Larry Atkinson, 71, of Lonoke, passed away November 14, 2016. He was born on August 23, 1945 in Damascus, Arkansas to the late Amon Jefferson"Jack" and Vaudie Mae (Holland) Atkinson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Jackie Lee Atkinson, Wanda Bell, one brother; Burl Atkinson, step father; Raymond Leon Malone. Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, AAA Hunting Club in Camden, Arkansas and a United States Army veteran. He was a hard working and good hearted man. Jim started working as an ambulance driver in North Little Rock, Arkansas followed by his enlistment in the U.S. Army. He was later area manager for Waffle House during which he attended the World's Fair in Atlanta. He set a world record listed in the Guinness Book of world records. He later became a well known tile setter, and was previous owner of Centark Tile Inc. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the Arkansas Razorbacks, but most of all he loved his family. Survivors include his wife; Constance Marie (Wermann) Atkinson, four daughters; Jeanne Lynn Martinez, Jackie Lanee Wisedom, Janice Lynn Johnson, Elizabeth Grace Nash, two sons; Zebrulin John Gillum, Timothy Eugene Gillum, Jr., one brother; Carlton Wayne Atkinson, two sisters; Georgia LeHew Scott, Patricia Barrett, twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchilden and a host of nephews and nieces who loved their Uncle Jim. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2016 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
