Erman Adele Cook Simmons, 92, of Pine Bluff, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016. Born August 2, 1924 at Hagler, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Clabourn Cook. A 1943 graduate of Stuttgart High School, Mrs. Simmons moved to Pine Bluff and worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal until the end of World War II. A homemaker first and foremost, Mrs. Simmons worked for the Pine Bluff School district as cafeteria manager retiring in 1990 after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of White Hall and a previous member of Centennial Baptist Church where she raised her children and served in several capacities. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, R.P. Simmons, Jr.; son, Joseph Simmons; brothers, Kenneth and Jimmy Cook; and a grandson, Joseph Simmons, Jr. She is survived by her children, Thomas Simmons and wife Lela, and Patricia Walters; daughter-in-law, Maggie Simmons Patton; six grandchildren, Helen Shearer (James), Herbie Walters (Shannon), Cindy Rochelle (Jeff), Daniel Simmons, Michelle Bain (Jonathan) and Cicely Hogan (David); 11 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Calvin, Christian, Brendan, Blakely, Jett, Brody, Jacob, Jack, Grace, Allison, and many other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, 1:30 p.m. at Fuller Hale South Funeral Chapel with Brother Paul Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
