William Eugene Howard

William Eugene Howard, age 81, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born May 2, 1935 in Warren, the son of the late Thomas and Loetta Glosson Howard. William was a retired boat painter for Duracraft, Alumnacraft and Ouachita Marine. He was a United States Navy veteran and received the good conduct medal. William enjoyed hunting, fishing and working crossword puzzles in his free time. He was of the Baptist faith. William was preceded in death by his parents, one son, William Gregory Howard, five brothers, T.J., Grady, Jimmy, Herman and Carrold "Dooley" Howard. Survivors are his wife, Betty Nowlin Howard of the home, one daughter, Cindy (Kenny) Humphries of Arkadelphia, one son, Christopher Gene Howard of Dallas, one brother, James (Judy) Howard of Monticello, one sister, Carolyn (Johnny) Wilson of Monticello, and two grandchildren, Leslie Humphries of Fayetteville and Joey Humphries of Arkadelphia. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 at Means Cemetery at Hampton with Rev. Greg Lathem officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Welch Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Third Street Baptist Church, P.O. Box 763, Arkadelphia, Ark. 71923.
