Betty Ray Read Wells

Betty Ray Read Wells, 85, of Gurdon passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 surrounded by family. She was born April 9, 1931 to Atley C. and Minnie Read of Beirne, Ark. Betty was a Christian and loved the Lord. She was a retired bookkeeper, secretary and a dog breeder. Her parents, her husband, B.C. "Buck" Wells Jr., sister, Billye S. Cummings, brother, A.C. Read and infant brother preceded Betty in death. She is survived by daughters, Barbara Hess of Arkadelphia, Patti Wingfield (Greg) of Camden, Mary Krikorian (Serge) of Benton; son, James Ryan Jr. (Barbara Kay) of Mabelvale; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 followed by funeral service at 3 p.m at Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon. Burial will follow at the Brown Cemetery in Beirne, Ark. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to your local Humane Society or animal shelter in her honor, due to her enormous love for animals.
