Evelyn Jean Gallant

Evelyn Jean Gallant, age 92, passed away on October 2nd in Groesbeck, Texas. She was born August 18, 1924 in Pine Bluff and had lived most of her life in Jonesboro. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock. While in Jonesboro, she was a member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church and served as Daycare Director and Church Secretary until her retirement. She taught Sunday School for many years and served in various other capacities in the church. In addition, for a number of years she had assisted her husband, Alfred Gallant, in the operation of their family owned business. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years. She is survived by two sons, Ross and Tammy Gallant of Cord and Cloyce and Kaye Miller of Buena Vista, Colorado; two daughters, Jennifer Gallant of North Little Rock, and Janet and Dwane Shropshire of Groesbeck; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Shatley and Dr. Tommy Snyder officiating, and burial to follow at Nettleton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 5th from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Evelyn's grandsons will serve as pall bearers. Memorials may be made to the Walnut Street Baptist Church in Jonesboro or Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock.
