Talmadge Ray Haley

Talmadge Ray Haley, 84, of Camden, Ark. joined his heavenly father on Monday, September 12, 2016. Talmadge was born to Royal Earl and Edna Griffis Haley on April 5, 1932 in Camden, Arkansas. His passing occurred at UAMS (Hospice) in Little Rock, Arkansas. Talmadge was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elaine Haley Davis of Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geneva Wood Haley of Camden, one son, Clifton Wayne Haley and one daughter, Cynthia Renee' Haley, both of Camden. One brother Roy Haley, wife Sue of Texarkana, Texas. Two granddaughters, April Michelle Stewart, husband Jay of Senatobia, Miss. and Ashley Rebecca Moore, husband Bennett of Hernanda, Miss. He loved them and his nine great-grands, Ansley Grace, William Wallace, (born on his birthday), Joseph Andrew, Kennedy Wayne, John Knox, Sarah Elizabeth, Stephen Keith, Nathaniel Bennett, and Emily Elaine. He also had one grandson, Christopher Haley, of Fayetteville, Ark. Tal or TR (as most people called him), attended Foster Business School and went to work for IPCO in 1951. In 1952, he went to serve his country in the Korean Conflict. Upon his service completion, he went back to work for IPCO until his retirement in 1987. He was very active in his community. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Camden Fire Department, was a Mason with the Camden Masonic Lodge, Boy Scout Leader with the DeSoto Boy Scout Council. Upon his retirement, he just had to keep himself busy so he opened up Topper Pawn Shop and obtained his Auctioneer's License, and started his fascination with his clocks. He was an avid collector of all types of clocks, but his favorites were his Fashion and Patty Clocks. He was an active member of the NAWCC (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors), Chapter 62 – Arkansas's Razorback Club. Not only did he collect clocks and repair clocks, but he attended clock shows around the nation for many years. His last clock presentation was at the Regional Clock Show in Eureka Springs in May of this year where he gave a lecture and presentation on his Fashion Clocks. He also served on the Daffodil Festival Committee for several years. Talmadge was a lifelong member of Cullendale First Baptist Church and served on several committees throughout his years, but lastly the History Committee, where he and his wife compiled the complete history of the church. He loved his church and everyone in it. Visitation with family will be held at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden on Thursday, September 15, 2016 between 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Cullendale First Baptist Church on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Wade Totty presiding.
