Dewey Stephenson, age 92, of Crossett, Ark. passed away on September 23, 2016. He was born on August 16, 1924 in Baskin, La. to his parents, Miles Bart and Rachel Nannie Halley Stephenson. Mr. Stephenson was a diesel mechanic for Georgia Pacific and a retired Volunteer Fire Chief. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Stephenson was a member of the Hampton Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Verniece Worrell Stephenson and his second wife, Glenda Rice Stephenson; a daughter, Joyce Carter; a son, David Stephenson; grandsons, Travis Waits and Lance Brantley; three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include eight children, Ginger Stephenson Rutherford (James) of Crossett, Ark., Tom Stephenson (Cynthia) of Houston, Texas, Kathie Anthony of White Hall, Ark., Brenda Bowles, Phillip Stephenson (Annie), all of Hot Springs, Ark., Rick Stephenson (Marilyn) of Calhoun, La., Elizabeth Kennedy (George) of Foreman, Ark., Sarah Waits of Hot Springs, Ark.; 21 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on September 26, 2016 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Hughes and Elder Don Farris officiating. Interment will follow at Carlock Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com). Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel.
