Dorothy Marie Nesbitt of Sherwood, Ark., passed away April 1, 2017. She was born August 6, 1927, in Elaine, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse C. Nesbitt; her parents, David Thorne and Mollie Edwards; her sisters, Jewel Hunt, and Patsy Ponder; and her best friend, Helen Wiley. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Diane King, of Sherwood, Ark.; a son, Bob Nesbitt (Susan), of Sherwood, Ark.; a daughter, Debra Tice, of Little Rock, Ark.; and a sister, Nancy Maglin, of LaGrange, Ga. Also, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Dorothy met and married her husband, Jesse, in Little Rock in 1946. In 1947, they moved with their first born to an area now known as Sherwood, making them the founders of the City of Sherwood in 1948, where for a number of years she worked for the Sherwood News. She loved music. For a while, Dorothy and three friends made up a group and called themselves The Classic Four. They had so much fun signing at various locations and functions. Her home and yard was what she loved most, other than her kids and grandkids. Known as Granny to all her kids, they loved going to her home, because you knew you going to have a good time with this wonderful lady and her unique personality. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Graveside services to be held on Wednesday, April 5, at 11 a.m. Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park, Sherwood, Ark. Family will gather and welcome visitors at the family home after the services.
