Violet Corine Lieblong age 91 of Conway passed away Saturday Feb. 18, 2017. She was born Thursday April 30, 1925 in Iron Mountain, Mich. She is the widow of the late Dr. Keller Lieblong. She is survived by her son Alex (JoAnn) Lieblong a daughter Amanda Lieblong Yarbrough both of Conway, grandchildren Jason (Monica), Jennifer (Michael), Jamie, Adam, Joseph, Samantha and great-grandchildren Mary Alex, Karly Rae, Chase and J.D. She is preceded in death by her parents Gustave Alexander and Agnes Molander Alexander, a son Dane Lieblong and four sisters. Vi was the youngest of five girls from Iron Mountain, Mich.which is in the upper peninsula. The daughter of Swedish immigrants and their father was an iron ore miner. One of her fondest memories was of the wood stove that they used for cooking and heating. At the end of WWII she was in Hawaii with her sister Fern to help babysit her two daughters. As fate would have it, the children got sick and the on-duty doctor was Keller Lieblong. Dr. Lieblong came to take care of the children, and was smitten with their Aunt Violet. The two of them moved back to Arkansas in 1946. She often accompanied her husband on house calls into the countryside where he would sometimes deliver babies in people's homes. Vi had her first son Dane in 1948 followed by Alex in 1950 with Amanda coming along in 1962. She lost her husband in 1972 when she was 47 after a great life together and their son Dane in 2006. She was stern and tough at times, but always a sucker for a sad story. Most of all she was hardest on herself. Jason always referred her as Dinah Shore when describing her. She was a godly woman and a hard core Republican. Visitation for Vi will be Tuesday Feb. 21, 2017 from 2-7 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crestlawn Memorial Park on Hwy 64 East of Conway with the Reverend Larry Grubbs officiating. A special thanks to her care giving lead by Charles Johnson and Trudy Collison and special friend Eva Bently. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
