Samuel Orin "Sam" Donaldson Jr., 73, of Springdale, died Friday, March 3, 2017 at Circle of Life Hospice. He was born June 1, 1943 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Samuel and Georgia Bryant Donaldson Sr. Sam was a Navy veteran and in everything he sought to do in life, he did it as unto the Lord. He enjoyed fishing, camping, time at the beach, and getaways to Branson. He was dedicated to his family, and was humble and selfless. Sam worked with the Longs Drug Stores in California for 25 years, then locally owned and operated Sam's Furniture. He was very civic-minded in the communities where he lived and worked, including his longtime, active membership with the Springdale Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Becky Donaldson; five children, Denise Donaldson of Bella Vista, Tonya Baldwin of Springdale, Sam Donaldson III, and wife Jamie of Bossier City, Louisiana, Joe Donaldson and wife Larra of Springdale, Brandi Isenbart and husband Cody also of Springdale; one brother, L.C. Donaldson and wife Jo; one sister, Betty Black, all of Paris, Texas; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray, Virgil and Jerry Donaldson, and a sister, Mary Smith. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Cross Pointe Community Church in Tontitown. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Cross Church in Springdale. Interment will be at Gentry Cemetery. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Seven Hills Homeless Center, 112 West Center Street, Suite 300, Fayetteville, Ark. 72702.
