Erma Jean Fortner

ERMA JEAN FORTNER of North Little Rock passed away on Nov. 19, 2017, on her 82nd birthday. Born in Osceola, Ark., Erma was a loving sister, mother, and grandmother ("Nanaw") who will be missed dearly by her friends and family. Erma was stubbornly independent and incredibly thoughtful, never failing to call or write on birthdays and holidays, or just to say hello and catch up. She loved collecting blue and white ceramics and always wrapped her Christmas gifts in hand-picked Santa Claus paper. She is survived by her son Sherman Murrell of Lubbock, Texas; her grandson Dan Murrell of Los Angeles, Calif.; her sisters Rose Fairchild of Las Vegas, N.V., and Glenda King of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Pansy; her sister Mary Alice; and her brother Pete. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.
