Mary Ann Blessing

Mary Ann Blessing, 82, of Cabot, our beloved mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Monday, October 23, 2017. Mary was born July 15, 1935 in Midway to the late Jack and Geraldine King Spires. She married Ed Phillips and had four children; Janet Ann Hopper (Jim), Cathy Sue Burns (Ricky), Randy Edd Phillips (Sandy) and Teresa Lynn Clopper (Chris). She later married Robert Blessing and they shared many loving years together. Mary had a deep love for her family and friends. She cherished her family and played an integral role in the lives of those close to her. Always beautiful and encouraging, she was the perfect model for parenting, grand parenting, unconditional love, humor and inner strength. She was at her happiest during family gatherings. Her hobbies of fishing, yardwork, flowers and koi ponds always brought her great joy. She will be profoundly missed. Mom, you have given so much and asked for so little in return. Thank you for always being there for us, for teaching us, listening to us, helping and forgiving us, loving us and always, always paving the way for us. You were perfect in every way. Mrs. Blessing was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Edward Phillips, her first husband, Edward Utley Phillips, her second husband, Robert Blessing and her siblings; James and Amos Spires, Sue Alden and Ruth Wood. In addition to her children, Mrs. Blessing is survived by 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and her sister, Alberta Tumbleson. The family would like to send a heart-felt thank you to Dr. John Hayes, the nurses and staff at Baptist Health Medical Center, Springhill. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501) 843-5816. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Dr. David Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
