Rev. Tommy (Nick) Nichols Evans, Jr., age 71, of Benton passed away Sept. 20, 2017 Rev. Evans was born June 11, 1946 in Batesville, Ark., to Tom and Alma Evans. He was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Mabelvale High School, Hendrix College, and Perkins School of Theology at SMU. He retired after 44 years serving United Methodist churches in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ann Perry Evans. Nick is survived by his children Rev. Hammett N. Evans (Michelle Pounds) of Bryant, Brice Evans of Little Rock, and Eleanor Evans of Rogers, his stepdaughters Melissa Moore (Mike Applin) and Mallory Moore, his brother, Ron (Pam) of Manchester, N.H., his sister, Gay Wyatt (Randy) of Little Rock, and the mother of his children, Rev. Kaye Hammett Evans. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27 at First United Methodist Church of Bryant, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pete Weber and Rev. Betsy Singleton officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark's UMC in New Orleans or the Pulaski County Humane Society.
