Elizabeth Dumas Stone, age 95 passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017. A daughter of the late William and Mary Sue Dumas, she was born in Lena, Mississippi on January 31, 1922. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Dr. Herd E. Stone on June 16, 1944. She was a member of the Holly Grove Presbyterian Church and a retired Home Economics Teacher. Elizabeth was a graduate of the Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, MS. She was a member of the Holly Grove Women's Club and a former den leader for the cub scouts. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and caring for her family and Holly Grove community. Friends described Elizabeth Stone as having a caring heart, an accepting smile, and a very generous spirit. She was always alert to the needs of others. Elizabeth Stone was considered the most exemplary constant caring companion with family, friends, and strangers. She is survived by three sons, Bill Stone of Holly Grove, Larry Stone and wife Shari of Ringgold, Galif. and Phil Stone and wife Jan of Conway, daughter, Linda Cooper and husband Mark of Conway, sister, Pat Norman of Lena, Miss., 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Holly Grove Presbyterian Church in Holly Grove, Ark. with Rev. Fern Davis officiating. A burial service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday at the Lena Cemetery in Lena, Mississippi. Donations should be directed to First Presbyterian Church – Holly Grove, Chicks for Children Foundation, Inc.
