SAMUEL ANSLEY WRIGHT JR., of North Little Rock passed away Feb. 15, 2018. He was born August 30, 1927 in Monticello, Miss., to the late Samuel A. Wright, Sr., and Ruth Wilson Wright. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and then served until retirement as a CW4, Chief Warrant Officer, in the Army National Guard—one of the few who served during the Little Rock Central High Crisis. He was a man of strong faith who served as a deacon of the Central Baptist Church of North Little Rock where he had been a member since 1957. He enjoyed camping and was the past director of Arkansas Good Sam's Club and a lifetime member of Good Sam's. He was also an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Jean Tolbert Wright; children: Brenda "Sissy" Miller (David); Samuel "Gary" Wright (Mary) and Rochelle Nix (Tommy); grandchildren: Terri Thompson (Scott), Chris Wright, Andy Wright (Jessica), Deric Nix (Amanda) and Hayden Nix (Megan); six great-grandchildren; and sister, Clyda Fulda (John). Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 9:30 AM Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at Central Baptist Church, North Little Rock; followed by interment at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
