Sammie Pedlow Strange

Sammie Pedlow Strange was born August 9, 1924, in Little Rock and died December 28, 2020, at home under the caring love of his family. He wasn't perfect, but his life was well-lived. He will be dearly missed. Sammie trusted and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. Sammie was a member of First Baptist Church Little Rock. He loved his family with all his heart and protected them with all his power. He claimed extended family as his own. Sammie served his country at the age of 18 in World War II. He was a dedicated and serious employee as a salesperson with incredible work ethic in the funeral supply business at Capital City Casket and retired from Ellis Melton Company. After retiring, Sammie was an active volunteer with senior adult programs at First Baptist Church and served the community in various ways. He loved his many names: Sambo, Chief, Big Sam, Papa and even Papa Z. Sammie is predeceased by his infant daughter, Zela Kay; parents, Samuel and Isabelle; and brother, John. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Zela; son, Sam, Jr. (Anita) and daughter, Marsha Masters (Brent); sister, Sara Cronin and family; Texas grandkids, Abi, Aaron and Rebekah; brother-in-law, Jesse Marshall (Carol); Marshall and Strange nieces and nephews and many special friends including his beloved dog, Lucy. There will be a graveside service at 2 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Hwy 10, Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 62 Pleasant Valley Dr, Little Rock, Ark. 72212, E2Initiative, 3000 Custer Road, Ste 270 #462, Plano, Texas 75075, or the charity of your choice.
