Fourth officer pleads guilty in Delta Blues case

The fourth of five Arkansas law-enforcement officers indicted in a drug-trafficking and corruption investigation has pleaded guilty to a drug-related charge.

Federal prosecutors agreed to drop the remaining charges against former Phillips County Sheriff’s Deputy Winston Dean Jackson in exchange for his guilty plea Friday in Little Rock.

Prosecutors estimate that Jackson’s sentence will range from nearly 6 to more than 7 years in prison. A sentencing date hasn’t been set.

Jackson and four other law-enforcement officers were indicted last year in an investigation in eastern Arkansas. Sixty-six other people were indicted in the probe known as “Operation Delta Blues.”

Former Helena-West Helena police officers Robert “Bam Bam” Rogers and Herman Eaton and former Marvell police officer Robert Wahls entered guilty pleas earlier this year.
